Starting in 1997, Netflix was initially launched as a DVD-by-mail service. Although this model was quite successful with the realization of the potential of streaming technology, Netflix began to offer it as an additional service in 2007.
While streaming media’s demand sky rocked, Netflix truly shifted from DVDs to online streaming in 2010. Though Netflix continued to offer DVDs for quite a while afterward, eventually, due to the overwhelming popularity of streaming, they discontinued the DVD service entirely in 2023.
