Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz may have inaugurated the province's largest eye department, but it could not be made fully operational so far.
The chief minister inaugurated the Mayo Hospital Eye Department, located in Lahore, on July 22.
Patients have been experiencing tremendous difficulties as a result of an absence of operations at Mayo Hospital's eye department. The operation theatres at the eye ward of the hospital remain inactive.
According to sources, there is no alternate electricity system in the operation theatres. Even generators could not be installed in the ward by the Communications and Works Department, the sources added.
According to the King Edward Medical University vice chancellor, previously, the eye ward was being supplied power throw two separate grid stations. Now the department is getting power supply from a single grid station, he added.
The VC said they could not start operations due to a lack of backup supply, as uninterrupted electricity supply is required during the procedure.
