In a move that has sent shockwaves across the nation, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved on Thursday a substantial increase in the electricity tariff by Rs2.56 per unit.
This adjustment comes as part of the monthly fuel adjustment for June, adding to the mounting economic pressures faced by Pakistani consumers.
The recent hike, which reflects fluctuations in fuel prices, will impact the majority of electricity users, though it will notably exempt Lifeline and K-Electric customers.
