Five years have passed since Indian PM Narendra Modi's illegal measures on Kashmiris in the occupied valley.
After the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, a curfew was imposed in India-held Kashmir and internet services were suspended so that the world could not see the brutal face of Modi. More than 19,000 innocent Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, political activists, lawyers, human rights defenders and leaders of organizations, were arrested by the Indian Army.
The Indian army's oppression of Kashmiris continues till date and this decision of India is being criticized all over the world. Every year on August 5, Youm-e-Istehsal is observed all over the world and voices are raised against the atrocities on Kashmiris.
Recently, on August 5, the Pakistani community in the United States expressed solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
“The illegal and unilateral action by the Indian government in occupied Kashmir is aimed at distorting the identity of Kashmiris and depriving them of their self-determination. Even today, the brave Kashmiris strongly condemn these nefarious designs of India and the Pakistani nation fully supports them in this struggle,” said an expat participating in a ceremony.
“I hope Kashmiris win this freedom struggle with the protection of God.”
History is witness that despite facing the worst Indian atrocities brave Kashmiris have always given a befitting reply to the Modi government's tactics. Proud Kashmiris will remain steadfast against this illegal occupation in the times to come.
