The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy monsoon rains across Pakistan including Islamabad from August 1 to August 6.
The forecast includes thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail, with significant rainfall expected in various regions.
From July 31 to August 6, heavy rain and hail, accompanied by strong winds and thundershowers, are anticipated in Kashmir and Muzaffarabad. Rain with thunder and lightning is also expected in Islamabad, Sargodha, and other areas, with stormy rain predicted at many locations.
The Meteorological department has warned of potential flooding in mountains, rivers, and streams in regions including Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to the expected heavy rain.
Urban flooding is also a concern in Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal from August 2 to August 5.
The department has highlighted the risk of landslides in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Miri, Galiyat, and Balochistan.
The heavy rain, wind, and thunder could cause damage to weak infrastructure, according to the Meteorological Department spokesperson.
Rain with thunder is also likely in the eastern areas of Balochistan. In Sindh, heavy rain and thunder are forecasted in Mithi, Umarkot, Thatta, and Badin from August 2 to August 6.
During the period from August 2 to August 6, heavy rain with strong winds is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Swabi are also expected to experience heavy rains with thundershowers from August 1 to August 6.
In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, heavy rains are anticipated from August 3 to August 6. The Meteorological Department has urged all concerned agencies to remain on high alert to manage the potential hazards associated with the heavy rainfall.
