Pakistan's Information Technology (IT) sector is experiencing significant growth with the support of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC). IT exports reached $2.6 billion in the last fiscal year and are expected to increase to $3.5 billion in the current year. The government has set a target to boost IT-based exports to $15 billion within the next five years.
To enhance export capabilities in the IT sector, the government has allocated over Rs79 billion for the current fiscal year. Of this amount, Rs19 billion will be used to establish IT parks in Karachi and Islamabad, while Rs22 billion has been earmarked for the Pakistan Software Export Board.
The Chairman of the Pakistan IT Industry Association emphasized the need for improving IT infrastructure and increasing skilled workforce to fully leverage the potential of the digital economy. He also stressed the importance of enhancing digital infrastructure and internet connectivity to build the IT sector according to modern industrial standards.
The SIFC's facilitation has led to rapid growth in the IT sector, resulting in the emergence of many startups that are making their mark globally.
