England's red-ball skipper Ben Stokes is poised to make his highly-anticipated comeback in the upcoming edition of The Hundred, where he will be representing Andrew Flintoff’s Northern Superchargers.
Stokes, the charismatic all-rounder, will join the squad after wrapping up the England versus West Indies Test series.
Stokes will be available for four games with the Superchargers. Having missed the competition last year, he is set to return in this unique league, promising to captivate the cricket fraternity once more.
Alongside Stokes, key players such as Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, and Jamie Smith, who are part of England's squad for the West Indies Tests, will also join their respective teams in The Hundred following their national duties.
The marquee event kicks off on July 23, while the third and final Test match begins on July 26.
The inclusion of these top-tier international cricketers is expected to significantly elevate the competition in The Hundred. Notable players like Gus Atkinson, Matthew Potts, and Dillon Pennington are set to feature from the initial rounds, with Chris Woakes joining from Tuesday, August 6.
Players selected for the first Test against Sri Lanka at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday, August 21, will be available for The Hundred’s Eliminator and Final, scheduled for August 17 and 18, respectively, depending on their roles and workload management.
