On the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the province has issued new flour and wheat prices.
The Food Department has announced the updated rates, detailing the cost of a 10 kg flour bag in various cities across Punjab.
In Lahore and Rawalpindi, a 10 kg flour bag will now cost Rs 900. Meanwhile, in Attock and Jhelum, the price is set at Rs 890, and in Chakwal, Sheikhupura, and Kasur, it will be Rs 870.
In Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, and Gujranwala, the rate for a 10 kg bag is Rs 820. Similarly, in Sialkot, Narowal, Chiniot, and Nankana, the price remains Rs 820. In Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Multan, and Lodhran, the cost is fixed at Rs 800 for a 10 kg bag.
Further south, in Sahiwal, Pakpattan, and Bahawalpur, a 10 kg bag of flour is also priced at Rs 800. The rate drops to Rs 790 in Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan. In Layyah, DG Khan, Khanewal, Vehari, and Bhakkar, the price is Rs 780, and in Mianwali, Khushab, and Jhang, it is Rs 780 as well.
Finally, in Muzaffargarh, the rate for a 10 kg flour bag is set at Rs 770, and in Rajanpur, it is Rs 760.
The Food Department spokesperson emphasized that these adjustments aim to stabilize the market and ensure affordability for the public. The new prices reflect a strategic approach to managing the supply and demand of essential commodities across Punjab.
This pricing policy is part of the government's broader effort to control inflation and provide relief to citizens amidst fluctuating economic conditions. The updated rates are effective immediately and are expected to be strictly enforced across all relevant markets and retailers in the province.
