To boost polio eradication efforts, the Punjabi government will erect specialized polio vaccination counters at entry and exit points of the province.
The provincial ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and representatives from other ministries attended the meeting of the provincial task group on polio eradication, where this decision was made.
Speaking to the participants, Khawaja Salman Rafique announced that all provincial ministers will make sure to join polio teams in the field during the upcoming campaign to eradicate polio. He stated that various strategies will be used in every district to fight the illness.
He instructed the health officials and deputy commissioners to pinpoint and resolve any obstacles preventing the achievement of the goals.
The participants decided that polio vaccination counters would be present at all Punjabi entry and exit points.
The officials promised to use every resource at their disposal to guarantee that polio and other diseases are eliminated from the province at the conference.
To finally eradicate polio, Khawaja Imran Nazir made it clear that a health emergency might be declared. He claimed that one of the main ways the illness spreads is through population migration. He did, however, guarantee that all children would receive polio vaccination drops at the entry and exit points.
Action would be taken against officials who exhibit irresponsibility during the polio eradication effort, according to the Chief Secretary.
