In recognition of his three decades of contributions to the film industry, Shah Rukh Khan will receive a Pardo alla Carriera, a career accomplishment award, at the upcoming Locarno Film Festival.
On August 10, SRK will take the award to Piazza Grande at the event. The award will be handed over after a special screening of the 2002 film Devdas.
Following the film, there will be an exclusive Q&A session where fans of Shah Rukh will get the opportunity to interact with the celebrity.
Under the direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Devdas won multiple accolades in India and was nominated for a BAFTA at the time.
Showcasing Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff, Kirron Kher, Smita Jaykar, and Vijayendra Ghatge, the film centers on Devdas Mukherjee (portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan), who battles alcoholism following his family's opposition to his marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Parvati "Paro" (Aishwarya).
Giona A. Nazzaro, the artistic director of Locarno, reportedly told Deadline, "Welcoming a living legend like Shah Rukh Khan in Locarno is a dream come true."
The wealth and breadth of his contribution to Indian cinema is unprecedented. Khan is a king who has never lost touch with the audience that crowned him.”
