Pakistani cricket players have reached Britain to participate in the much-anticipated World Championship Of Legends 2024 tournament. Former captain Shahid Afridi shared his excitement and insights ahead of the event.
Speaking about the opportunity to reunite with former teammates, Afridi said, "Getting a chance to play with the old boys again is an incredible feeling. The team includes many players who were part of the 2009 World Cup-winning squad."
Afridi highlighted the team's rigorous preparation, mentioning, "All the boys have come after training hard for the tournament."
Afridi, representing Pakistan in the Legends League, expressed his determination to secure a victory. "We are representing Pakistan in the league, so we want to win and return," he stated confidently.
In a lighter vein, Afridi revealed a special request he made for the tournament. "I have made a special request to make the boundary short," he said with a smile.
The World Championship Of Legends 2024 T20 tournament, approved by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), will be played at Edgbaston and Northampton Shire County Cricket Club in the United Kingdom. The tournament will feature teams from India, Pakistan, Australia, England, West Indies, and South Africa.
Besides Afridi, the tournament will feature a number of cricket legends, including Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Suresh Raina from India.
In addition to these esteemed veterans, the tournament will also feature other renowned international talents such as Brett Lee, Aaron Finch, Shaun Marsh, Ben Cutting, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan, Jacques Kallis, JP Duminy, Dale Steyn, Chris Gayle, Daren Sammy, Dwayne Smith, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, and Samit Patel.
The World Championship of Legends will begin on Wednesday, July 3, and will conclude on Saturday, July 13. The competition will see the return of the bowl-out format to determine a winner in case of a tie.
