Government has intensified its crackdown on the smuggling of essential commodities, including flour, sugar, fertilizer, and oil. The anti-trafficking operations aim to ensure public safety and economic stability.
Between June 23-30, authorities seized 3 metric tons of sugar, 61 metric tons of fertilizer, 30,361 cigarette stocks, 103 cloth bags, and 0.138 million liters of Iranian oil from various regions across the country. The operations yielded substantial results in multiple cities:
- Multan: 1,280 cigarette stocks, 8 cloth bags, 0.014 million liters of Iranian oil
- Peshawar: 27,616 cigarette stocks, 0.026 million liters of Iranian oil
- Quetta: 1,342 cigarette stocks, 36 cloth bags, 0.060 million liters of Iranian oil
- Karachi: 123 cigarette stocks, 59 cloth bags, 0.038 million liters of Iranian oil
Since the launch of the crackdown on September 1, 2023, authorities have seized 3,208 metric tons of fertilizer, 281 metric tons of flour, 34,665 metric tons of sugar, 314,915 cigarette stocks, 149,550 cloth bags, and 6.747 million liters of Iranian oil nationwide.
