Former federal minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has raised alarm over the surging utility bills and the mounting economic hardships faced by the common citizens.
In a recent video message, Rasheed lamented the exorbitant gas bills, revealing that his own bill had soared to Rs1 lac despite minimal usage.
"Since my detention, the afternoon stove hasn't been lit in my house. I have breakfast on the cart, and we only cook in the evening, yet the gas bill has come to one lakh rupees," Rasheed stated.
He added that citizens residing in inner-city neighborhoods are grappling with gas bills ranging from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000.
Addressing the nation's leaders, Rasheed warned of a "blind revolution" brewing in the streets as people struggle under the weight of relentless inflation.
"The country is sinking; we are facing an economic, and political disaster. It's imperative to understand that the situation is slipping out of control. Thieves and robbers came to absolve their cases and have extinguished the hearth of the poor," he remarked.
Rasheed further highlighted the plight of the impoverished, emphasizing that the current crisis transcends mere electoral disputes. "This is not a fight of forms 45 and 47; it is a quest for the survival of the poor. Responsible circles must act to save the poor from perishing, for God's sake," he implored.
Additionally, he revealed that his electricity bill had reached an astronomical Rs 168,000.
