In a welcome respite from scorching temperatures, Lahore and other parts of Punjab was drenched in heavy rain on Saturday evening, transforming the cityscape into a cool and pleasant retreat.
Meanwhile, temperatures plummet to a refreshing 30 degrees Celsius.
The rainfall, eagerly awaited by residents beleaguered by frequent power outages, provided much-needed relief across the city. According to the Meteorological Office, Lahore may witness another spell of rain in the coming days.
The impact of the rain was felt across Lahore, with low-lying areas experiencing temporary inundation and urban thoroughfares resembling meandering streams. Upscale neighborhoods like Gulberg, Cavalry Ground, and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) were not spared from nature's deluge.
Despite the inconvenience caused to motorists and pedestrians, there were no reports of casualties or significant property damage. However, the accompanying strong winds and rain did disrupt local electricity supply, leaving many areas without power and water for several hours. Thankfully, utility services were swiftly restored following the rainfall.
