Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for allegedly hindering efforts to combat terrorism in the country.
Speaking at a National Assembly session, Tarar stated that those who facilitated the Taliban's entry into Pakistan are now opposing the government's anti-terrorism operations, thus destabilizing the nation.
Tarar highlighted the importance of unity in the fight against terrorism and called for an end to the divisive narrative of 'good Taliban' and 'bad Taliban.'
He emphasised the recent approval of operation "Azm-e-Istehkam" aimed at restoring security and attracting investment by eliminating terrorism.
"The security situation in the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is very concerning," Tarar said, stressing that the threat posed by terrorism affects everyone equally, without distinguishing between factions.
The minister also addressed the ongoing criticism within the House, urging opposition members to provide constructive feedback on the budget. He pointed out that the budget includes measures to expand the tax net by including non-filers, which is essential for economic stability.
Tarar condemned the rising incidents of mob justice, referring to the tragic case of a Sri Lankan citizen killed in the name of religion. He called for equal rights for minorities to enhance Pakistan's international image.
PTI, JUI-F oppose military operations
Earlier today, Pakistan Threek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam supremo Maulana Fazlur Rehman met and discussed the political and law and order situation in the country.
Both leaders expressed concern about the worsening peace and order, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), noting the rise in lawlessness.
During their discussions, they agreed that a military operation was not the solution.
Instead, they emphasized the need for political parties to work together for peace in the province. To this end, they decided to establish a political committee between their parties to address concerns and develop future political strategies.
