The Wall Street Journal claimed on Sunday that Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, has considered incorporating Meta's generative AI model into Apple Inc's recently revealed AI system for iPhones, according to Reuters.
Apart from Google and Meta, AI startups Anthropic and Perplexity have been in talks with Apple about bringing their generative AI to Apple Intelligence, according to the Journal, citing people familiar with the situation.
Apple, Meta, Perplexity, and Anthropic did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside of business hours.
The conversations have yet to be concluded and may fall through, according to the Journal, but collaborations with Apple would help AI businesses gain a wider distribution of their goods.
According to the article, the magnitude of the possible cash bonanza is unknown, but the negotiations involved AI businesses offering premium memberships to their services via Apple Intelligence.
