A joint investigation team (JIT) has been constituted by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to thoroughly probe the incident that transpired in Swat's Madin area.
The ten-member JIT, comprising officials from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, and senior police officers, will be under the supervision of DIG Malakand, according to sources from the Capital Police Office.
The incident has resulted in the registration of a case against 2,000 individuals. To facilitate the identification process, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) will be assisting in analyzing the cellular data of the concerned persons.
An initial investigation report has surfaced, highlighting several critical lapses. Notably, the report mentions the absence of political and high-ranking figures at the scene of the incident. The clash left 11 civilians and five police officers injured, while enraged protesters set ablaze two motorcycles and five vehicles.
The report further disclosed that the local police had requested reinforcements to manage the unruly crowd. Additionally, it was revealed that the local Station House Officer (SHO) failed to relocate the alleged accused to a secure location, exacerbating the situation.
