A student was detained by Turkish authorities for using a homemade gadget connected to artificial intelligence software to answer questions during a test for university admission, according to Reuters.
After being observed acting strangely during the exam over the weekend, the student was taken into custody by the police, who then formally arrested him and put him to jail pending trial.
A second individual who was assisting the student was also taken into custody.
Police in the southwestern province of Isparta released a video that showed how the student utilized a camera that looked like a shirt button and was connected to artificial intelligence software through a router tucked down in the bottom of the person's shoe.
To show how the system operates, a police officer scans a question in the video. The AI program then generates the right answer, which is delivered through an earpiece.
