Around two million Muslims converged at Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi in Madinah for the Eidul Azha prayers early Friday morning.
The atmosphere at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah resonated with the resounding chants of Eid takbirat, glorifying Allah the Almighty.
Pilgrims, including both locals and visitors from around the globe, gathered in spirit-filled congregations to mark this auspicious occasion.
The sermon for Eid-ul-Azha prayers at Masjid al-Haram was delivered by Sheikh Al-Hadith Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, emphasizing the significance of sacrifice and unity within the Muslim Ummah. Special prayers were offered for the progress and security of the Islamic world.
After the prayers, pilgrims are set to move to Mina, where they will perform the ritual of ‘stoning of the devil’ as part of the Hajj pilgrimage rites. Following this, they will carry out the Sunnah of Ibrahimi by sacrificing animals, symbolizing Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion and obedience to God.
Eid-ul-Azha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, holds profound religious importance for Muslims worldwide, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah’s command.
The celebrations in Saudi Arabia reflect a deep sense of community and devotion, as millions of Muslims join together in prayer and reflection, reaffirming their faith and commitment to Islamic teachings.
