Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Umar Ayub, emphasized that blocking the path of judiciary cripples the country’s functioning.
Addressing a press conference, he stated that all state institutions, including the police, military, and FC, are integral parts of the state machinery.
Ayub highlighted PTI founder’s demand for an end to cases against party leadership and the release of detained leaders like Sanam Javed and Yasmin Rashid. He expressed concern that PTI leaders are re-arrested upon their release from jail.
Regarding the federal budget, he raised questions about transparency, stating that copies were not provided to the opposition before presentation. He criticized the budget, suggesting it served the London plan rather than public welfare.
The opposition leader also criticized Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, questioning the source of funds for Naqvi’s Dubai property acquisition during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab. He highlighted discrepancies in wheat procurement and the opening of a significant Letter of Credit (LC) worth 450 billion, demanding an investigation into these matters.
Addressing concerns about potential rice smuggling, Ayub referred to statements by Azam Nazir Tarar and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. He further criticized the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for enacting laws that allegedly granted impunity to its members, contrasting it with the PTI government's efforts, which purportedly recovered Rs 458 billion during its tenure.
Umar Ayub called for accountability and transparency in government actions, raising various concerns about financial matters and governance.
