The Meteorological Department has forecasted intense heat across the plains of the country today, with temperatures expected to be 2 to 4 degrees above normal. However, various regions will experience contrasting weather patterns with chances of rain.
The northern regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Punjab, are likely to experience rainfall. Islamabad is expected to see partly cloudy skies with potential showers.
Evening rain is also predicted in Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, and Umarkot. Further south, areas such as Khuzdar, Lasbela, and Awaran might receive rain later in the evening or night.
Cholistan Desert rejuvenated by rainfall
The recent rains have brought significant relief to the Cholistan desert, revitalizing the arid landscape.
The downpour has filled dry tubs with water, providing much-needed hydration to the region led to the return migration of displaced Cholistanis, who had previously moved due to severe heat and water scarcity.
The rejuvenated pastures are now filling with animals, as desert dwellers return to their homelands with their livestock. Bahawalpur has also seen its dry tubs replenished with water due to the rains.
