Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb announced on Wednesday substantial 27% increase in the budget allocation for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), elevating the fund to an impressive 593 billion rupees.
The FinMin during Budget 2024-25 speech, he outlined the budgetary provisions, emphasising that the number of eligible individuals under BISP will rise from the current 9.3 million to 10 million.
In addition to the increased financial support, the educational scholarship program under BISP will also see a significant extension. Another one million children will be included, raising the total number of beneficiaries in this program to 10.4 million.
The Federal Finance Minister reiterated the government's dedication to uplifting the vulnerable sectors through sustained financial aid and educational support. This substantial increase in the BISP allocation and the expansion of the scholarship program underscore the administration's resolve to address poverty and promote education.
The BISP, which has been a cornerstone of the government's poverty alleviation strategy, continues to evolve with increased funding and broader outreach, ensuring that the benefits reach the most deserving segments of society.
This initiative not only provides immediate financial relief but also invests in the future of the nation's children, paving the way for a more educated and economically stable population.
