Following a relentless onslaught of scorching temperatures, residents of Lahore, and other parts of Punjab were greeted with a much-needed reprieve as rain and dust storms swept through the area.
The mercury, which had been soaring to unbearable levels, plummeted as cool winds and intermittent showers blanketed the city and its outskirts.
The Meteorological Department's forecast of continued rainfall until June 7 further bolstered hopes for sustained relief from the recent heatwave that had gripped the region. However, the sudden shift in weather patterns also brought about its own set of challenges.
In the suburbs of Shahras, particularly in Ferozwala, strong winds and dusty gusts accompanied the thunderstorms, leading to a reduction in the intensity of the heatwave. The pleasant weather, characterized by cool winds and rain, offered respite to residents weary from the oppressive heat.
Yet, the transition was not without its disruptions. With lightning strikes and heavy rainfall, electricity supply was interrupted in many areas across the city.
Reports from Bhimbar also indicated rain accompanied by gale-force winds, exacerbating the situation and further impacting the electricity infrastructure.
However, amidst the relief, challenges emerged as electricity supply was disrupted in several areas due to the inclement weather conditions.
