Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan for Pakistan Ulanbek Totuiaev briefed the media in Islamabad regarding the Bishkek events in which Pakistani students sustained injuries and hundreds of students flew back to Pakistan after hostile locals attacked students pursuing education.
The envoy said the chaotic events were completely ‘baseless news’ and information was shared on foreign media social networks, especially in Pakistan.
What happened in Bishkek?
Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan for Pakistan Ulanbek Totuiaev said that a clash took place between local and foreign students in a hostel in Bishkek on May 13.
On May 18, Kyrgyz citizens demonstrated to bring foreign students to ‘justice’.
“As soon as the information was received, the police detained four Egyptians and 10 Kyrgyz citizens,” he said.
The ambassador said that no one was injured in the riots and the media is requested to refrain from broadcasting or publishing unverified reports.
He assured that all those involved in rioting would be punished according to law.
“Pakistan will be asked to investigate those spreading false information in the media,” the envoy said.
