Most of the plains across the country will experience intense heat today, while the upper regions are forecast to receive rains from today through June 1.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of possible floods in rivers and landslides in hilly areas due to the impending weather conditions.
The Met Department has predicted that temperatures in the plains of Punjab and Sindh will soar to six degrees above normal levels. Islamabad will also see a temperature increase of three to five degrees higher than usual. "The sun will spit fire throughout the day in most of the plain areas," a Met Department official stated.

In the federal capital and its surrounding areas, there is a possibility of a storm in the afternoon. Meanwhile, rain accompanied by dust, wind, and thunderstorms have been predicted in the upper areas until June 1, which could lead to significant weather events.
The NDMA has issued an alert in light of the expected heavy rains, indicating a risk of flooding in rivers and potential landslides in hilly regions. The authority has directed relevant institutions to ensure that staff and machinery are prepared to address any emergencies that may arise.
Due to the changing weather patterns, there is a possibility of a reduction in the severity of the heat wave in Lahore and other parts of Punjab. Weak westerly winds will affect the coastal areas of the country on May 28, the Met Department said.
