Another case has been registered at the Manawan police station against six police personnel, including the dismissed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mazhar Iqbal, in connection with their alleged involvement in cross-border drug smuggling.
The case, which now includes charges of kidnapping for ransom, was registered following a complaint filed by Mohammad Naeem at the Manawan police station.
In addition to DSP Mazhar Iqbal, the five other police officials named in the case are yet to be arrested, pending further investigation.
As per the First Information Report ( FIR), the accused officers took the women of Naeem's house to the police station and subjected them to torture.
DSP Mazhar and his team are accused of dealing in drugs worth Rs80 million, they said, adding that the hunt for DSP is on.
