Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik on Thursday rallied behind all-rounder Imad Wasim and fast bowler Mohammad Amir.
Expressing his thoughts, Malik said: "The national players are in good form right now. “ It would be good if the team got off to a good start. Winning series against England will help the Pakistan team start the T20 World Cup with confidence."
"This is the first time that the team will play in the United States. Those who will assess the conditions well will get an advantage," he said.
Acknowledging the talent of Saim Ayub, Malik said: "Saim Ayub plays while taking risks. He [Saim Ayub] has plenty of talent. It would be better to open with Saim Ayub during the high-scoring matches."
"However, if the wicket is slow and the team has to chase an equation of 160-run, then the team can go with Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as openers," he added.
Speaking about the high-octane clashes between Pakistan and India, Malik said: "We see the clash between India and Pakistan normally as a match."
"Following the match, the players from both teams [India and Pakistan] eat together," Malik added.
Malik said that he had good expectations from the Pakistan national cricket team.
