Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said on Tuesday that the 40-year-long war had affected the economy of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Expressing his thoughts on the floor of the National Assembly , Qaiser said: "There is no similarity between Fata and other parts of the country. Fata had to suffer a lot due to the war."
Qaiser reacted to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif's remarks about the NA speaker, saying, "Khawaja Asif had talked about me yesterday when I was not present. We are not fond of agreeing to anybody's point forcefully. Khawaja Asif should have respected the post of the speaker, as it is very respectable."
– Strong parliament –
Last month in April, Qaiser said his party wanted to see a "strong parliament and an independent judiciary" in the country so that the judiciary could make independent decisions.
He emphasised the importance of the rule of law in the country.
The former speaker of the National Assembly questioned under which law PTI was not allowed to hold meetings and vowed to hold public gatherings in Lahore and Karachi.
The SIC leader said that despite serious concerns and reservations, his party wanted to run the affairs of the Parliament, and for that, the government had to provide their democratic rights.
