Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar launched scathing on Saturday criticism against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accusing it of adopting double standards and attempting to destabilise the country.
Speaking on Samaa TV program "Mere Sawwal," Tarar lambasted PTI for what he perceived as a campaign to undermine the justice system, questioning the selective application of legal action against individuals.
Tarar particularly highlighted the cases lodged against Sanam Javed and other women leaders, juxtaposing them with the apparent immunity enjoyed by the sisters of PTI's founder.
He denounced PTI's alleged smear campaign against the military and its martyrs, including commentary surrounding a Lasbela helicopter accident.
Moreover, Tarar slated PTI's tactics in handling court cases, accusing them of employing delaying tactics and seeking leniency despite overwhelming evidence against certain individuals. He stressed the importance of allowing the court to determine sentencing based on irrefutable evidence, underscoring the principle of justice.
In addition to addressing judicial matters, Tarar delved into political discourse, emphasizing the necessity of constructive dialogue and cooperation among political factions to tackle national challenges effectively.
He highlighted the government's achievements, citing secured investments from Saudi Arabia and Iran, institutional reforms, and the digitisation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Tarar asserted a gradual decrease in inflation from 20% to 17%, signaling progress toward economic stability under the current administration. He contrasted these achievements with what he portrayed as PTI's lack of progress during their tenure, alleging they failed to initiate significant developmental projects.
The minister concluded by emphasizing that reforms are pivotal for the nation's prosperity, transcending individual or institutional interests. He urged a collective effort toward advancing Pakistan's socio-economic landscape.
