FWO has completed the toughest clearance operation on the Karakoram Highway. The trapped passengers and tourists were evacuated.
The recent severe rains have caused landslides at 19 locations on the Jaglot Skardu Road and full blockages at 6 locations on the Karakoram Highway.
Due to the landslide, the traffic on Karakoram Highway, Jaglot Skardu Road and Tungash Road was severely affected and more than 200 vehicles were stuck with which more than 1500 people were on board.
With heavy equipment, FWO rescue crews arrived at the impacted regions immediately to begin clearing and rescue operations. FWO cleared fifty-six places on the Karakoram Highway and restored traffic while working nonstop day and night.
Jaglot-Skardu road was also opened for traffic by two units of FWO who were working continuously. Tourists and travelers appreciated the tireless work and selfless service of FWO and the Pak Army.
