In a noteworthy breakthrough, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has uncovered a large-scale gas theft in Karachi operation, resulting in the recovery of stolen gas worth more than Rs 156 million.
During raids conducted in Liaquatabad, Korangi, Mehran Town, and other parts of Karachi, SSGC authorities uncovered gas theft worth a staggering Rs 150.65 million.
According to a spokesperson for SSGCL, the perpetrators were illegally siphoning off approximately 5.073 million cubic meters of gas directly from SSGC's service lines.
As part of their anti-theft efforts, SSGC's gas theft detection teams disconnected a total of 5,216 illegal connections in the targeted areas.
During the raids, the enforcement team seized the equipment and materials used in the gas theft operations, including pipes and other paraphernalia.
The spokesperson further stated that punitive measures would be taken against the accused individuals in accordance with the amount of gas stolen.
