Several agreements were signed on the second day of the Golden Jubilee session of the Islamic Development Bank in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
A three-year framework agreement of $40 million with the Bank of Commerce and Development for the economic development of Africa, a $250 million financing agreement with two African banks, and a three-year framework agreement of $150 million with the Ugandan government were signed during the event.
Sponsorship of the Arab Summit will be given to emerging companies under an agreement, while another agreement was reached with the Economic and Social Commission of the United Nations.
The event is being attended by world leaders and representatives of financial institutions from all over the world.
On the other hand, International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, in her address on the second day of the Golden Jubilee event, said the IDB was working honestly and professionally. The Bank took measures to deal with pandemics or any other natural disaster, adding that both the IMF and IDB should work together.
About the goals of the Bank, its Chairman Dr. Muhammad Salman Al Jasser said the IDB released funds of $182 billion in 2023 and started more than 12,000 projects.
At the ceremony, Riyadh Governor Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud read out a message from the Saudi ruler, while the event was also addressed by the Saudi finance minister and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
Moreover, messages of leaders from other countries were also played through video links.
