Shibli Faraz, the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, has demanded to establish clear parameters for negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), emphasizing the need for seriousness from all parties involved.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, he asserted that negotiations cannot take place in a vacuum, adding that if establishment is a reality then the PTI is the largest political party and whoever wants to negotiate should show seriousness.
The Leader of the Opposition in the Senate further said that the PTI leadership is still facing difficulties in the matter of delivering the message of the founder chairman.
He emphasized the importance of identifying specific issues for negotiation, cautioning against attempts by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to pit PTI against the military establishment.
He also highlighted the role of lawyers in supporting PTI. Faraz reiterated that PTI is a political party, and decisions should be made by its political leadership, with minimal interference from external parties.
Regarding the appointment of Sher Afzal Marwat as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, Shibli Faraz accused the PML-N of employing a deceptive tactic regarding the appointment of Marwat. He claimed that initially, PML-N rejected Marwat’s candidacy, prompting the founding chairman to propose Hamid Raza instead. However, upon the emergence of Raza’s name, it was revealed that PML had, in fact, accepted Sher Afzal Marwat’s nomination.
Furthermore, Faraz expressed PTI’s commitment to upholding democratic principles and ensuring transparent decision-making processes within the party. He urged for constructive engagement and collaboration among political stakeholders to address pressing issues facing the nation.
The PTI leader also pointed out the regional representation within PTI, with both the current chairman and opposition leader hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He advocated for equitable distribution of leadership positions, particularly the Chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in Punjab.
