The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a warning regarding the possibility of gusty winds, thundershowers, and hailstorms in the province from today until April 29.
A spokesperson for PDMA emphasized the need for citizens to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the anticipated severe weather conditions.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, there is a likelihood of hailstorms at various locations across Punjab, heightening concerns about potential damage to property and infrastructure. In response to the forecast, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia has directed deputy commissioners throughout the province to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to mitigate risks and respond to any emergency situations.
Kathia stressed the importance of departments concerned to remain alert and prepared, and emergency response agencies to handle any unforeseen events. He highlighted that District Emergency Operation Centers across all districts have been placed on alert status, with monitoring efforts intensified throughout 24 hours in the PDMA control room.
To ensure a swift response to any emergencies, the DG urged rescue agencies, including Rescue 1122, to keep their machinery and personnel on standby.
He also issued safety advisories to citizens, urging them to exercise caution by staying away from electric poles and hanging wires. He emphasized the importance of seeking shelter in safe places during lightning and stormy conditions, and advised against venturing outdoors when weather conditions pose a risk to personal safety.
