Former Pakistani cricketer Rashid Latif has raised some valid concerns about Pakistan's cricket team as they gear up for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in India.
In simple terms, he's worried about what happens if things go south during the tournament.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Latif pointed out that there might not be a solid plan b if something unexpected happens during the World Cup matches.
You know, like when your favorite player gets injured or can't play. That's what he's talking about.
Latif emphasized how important it is to have backup players ready and raring to go. He mentioned four players in particular: Abrar Ahmed, Zaman Khan, Qasim Akram, and Mubasir Khan.
According to him, they should have been getting ready for One Day Internationals (ODIs) a whole year ago.
He also seemed pretty content with the fact that certain players like Zaman, Abrar, Haris, and Sarfaraz didn't make the cut for the current World Cup squad.
But here's the twist – he's not saying they're not good players. He's just thinking ahead to a “what if” scenario.
Latif went on to explain that if things go south in the World Cup (like it did in 2003 when nine new players had to join the team), these four players could become superheroes for Pakistan.
It's almost like having a secret weapon tucked away, just in case.
