Next month could see a substantial reduction in the prices of petroleum products, offering some much-needed relief to consumers.
According to officials from the Ministry of Finance, a depreciation in the value of the currency could lead to a noticeable drop in the cost of petroleum products.
Reports suggest that starting from October 1st, for a period of 15 days, the per-liter price of petrol may decrease by Rs11.98, while diesel could become cheaper by up to Rs9.17.
Additionally, the price of kerosene oil is expected to drop by as much as Rs5.58.
On the other hand, speaking in a recent media interview in Karachi, the Minister of Commerce, Gohar Ejaz, hinted at a reduction in petroleum product prices starting from October 1st.
It should be noted that the government had implemented a record increase in petroleum product prices on September 15th, which saw petrol prices rise by up to Rs26 per liter.
