Energy Minister Sardar Owais Khan Laghari announced that the officers involved in electricity theft will be dismissed from their jobs and vowed no one will be allowed to overbill.
The government has decided to take action against electricity thieves.
The receivable bills of electricity distribution companies have reached Rs900 billion. The country can no longer afford this loss. “This year, the losses of electricity distribution companies will reach Rs560 billion,” he said.
In the energy sector, electricity bills of Rs1900 billion are receivable while people used units worth Rs300 billion rupees for free.

“20 percent of people are harming Pakistan by stealing electricity damaging the national exchequer,” he said. The Federal Energy Minister said that the country could no longer afford this loss.
