Early this morning, gunfire was reported outside the Mumbai home of Bollywood star Salman Khan, according to the police.
At 5am on Sunday, two unidentified men in a motorcycle fired five rounds into the air outside of Mr. Khan's Bandra home before escaping from the scene.
According to Mumbai Police sources, a 7.6-bore gun was used in the shooting. It is thought that the two people who are suspected of carrying out the shooting are associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In addition, both suspects' estimated heights are 5 feet and 8 inches, according to police analysis.
DVRs from every CCTV camera outside Khan's house that captured the accused riding their bike have been collected by the police. Four shots were fired, according to the police, and one live round was found, most likely dropped during the weapon's locking mechanism.
A foreign pistol was used in the firing, according to police, who also stated that a bullet struck Khan's apartment on the first floor of the building. Mumbai Police is looking for the culprits who fired the shots as part of their investigation into the incident.
Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, contacted the actor after the incident.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) claimed last year that Khan was at the top of the list of 10 primary targets that incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi intended to eliminate. The gangster cited the actor's notorious 1998 black buck hunting incident, which he claimed insulted the Bishnoi community.
Sampat Nehra, Bishnoi's goon, had been monitoring Salman Khan's Bandra home, setting the stage for a possible hit. But Nehra was apprehended by the Haryana Police Special Task Force.
On April 11 last year, Mumbai Police received a threat call, at which point they upgraded Khan's security status to Y+. An Indian student in the UK was the target of a lookout circular (LOC) after it was claimed that the student had sent Mr. Khan a threatening email.
