Following the annual observance of Eid ul Fitr, all banks and financial institutions in Pakistan are set to close their doors from April 10th to April 12th, as declared by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday.
The SBP, in an official statement, announced its closure from April 10th to 12th, marking the public holidays for Eid ul Fitr celebrations. Following suit, all banks, microfinance banks, and other financial entities will also observe the Eid holidays during this period.
Earlier today, the federal government issued a notification affirming the Eid holidays. According to the Cabinet Division's notification, offices operating on a five-day workweek will observe three public holidays from April 10th to 12th, while those operating on a six-day workweek will observe four public holidays from April 10th to 13th.
"The prime minister has been pleased to approve public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr," read the notification, signed by Principal Information Officer Muhammad Aqib Gulzar of the Press Information Department (PID).
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted that the first day of Eid ul Fitr is expected to fall on April 10th, with the Shawwal moon likely to be sighted on April 9th.
The PMD revealed that the crescent would be visible on April 9th around Maghrib prayer, having been born on April 8th at 11:21 PM, and would be approximately 19 to 20 hours old the following day.
While the sky is expected to be clear in most parts of the country on April 9th, the PMD cautioned that northern areas might experience cloudy conditions.
