In a fiery speech delivered at a public rally in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing Indian intelligence agencies of aligning with the ruling party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a fervent crowd, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo alleged that central probe agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Income Tax department, Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), were functioning at the behest of the BJP. She asserted that these agencies were working to tilt the electoral landscape in favor of the saffron camp.
"We will humbly plead with the Election Commission to ensure a level playing field as central agencies are aligning with the saffron camp," Banerjee declared, vowing that her party would not succumb to the "threat of central agencies."
In a bold move, Banerjee encouraged locals to report instances of BSF torture ahead of the polls, scheduled for April 19, urging them to file police complaints. This comes amidst escalating tensions between the TMC and the BJP in the run-up to the elections.
The allegations made by Banerjee have sparked intense political debate, with the BJP dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. However, Banerjee's claims have reignited concerns about the impartiality of Indian intelligence agencies and their role in electoral processes.
As the electoral battle intensifies in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's accusations have added a new dimension to the already charged political atmosphere, setting the stage for a contentious showdown between the TMC and the BJP in the upcoming polls.
