As Pakistan gears up to host the prestigious ICC Champions Trophy 2025, an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation conducted a thorough inspection of the country's cricketing infrastructure.
The delegation, led by Chris Tetley, ICC's Head of Events, arrived in Pakistan on March 25 to evaluate the preparations for the upcoming tournament.The delegation's visit culminated in a pivotal meeting with Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Wednesday, March 27. The discussions, held at PCB headquarters, revolved around ensuring seamless execution and top-tier facilities for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Mohsin Naqvi underscored Pakistan's readiness to host a global cricketing spectacle. "Pakistan is set to host an ICC Tournament, which is an absolute pleasure and a welcome development not just for the board but also for the fans across the country," stated Naqvi. He reiterated the PCB's commitment to providing unparalleled facilities in line with the tournament's historic significance.
Furthermore, Naqvi announced substantial upgrades planned for the three major venues designated for the Champions Trophy matches. "I am delighted to announce that the PCB will upgrade the three major venues in the country well in time before the start of ICC Champions Trophy 2025," Naqvi declared, ensuring that no stone will be left unturned to ensure the tournament's success.
The ICC delegation, comprising Chris Tetley, Sarah Edgar, and Aun Zaidi, expressed satisfaction with the facilities inspected across Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The thorough evaluation included visits to renowned cricketing venues such as the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
During their visit to the Pindi Cricket Stadium, PCB representatives provided the ICC delegation with detailed insights into the ongoing preparations, including security arrangements. Naqvi, along with key PCB officials, engaged in productive discussions with the ICC delegation, assuring them of Pakistan's dedication to hosting a successful tournament.
The forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025 holds immense significance for Pakistan, marking the first time since 2009 that the nation will serve as the sole host of an ICC tournament.
