In light of the upcoming 'Chup Tazia' processions on September 25 and Eid Milad-un-Nabi events on September 29, Sindh Home Department imposed a temporary ban on pillion riding in Karachi and various districts across the province.
This move is aimed at maintaining peace and order during these significant religious gatherings.
The decision to enforce this ban comes following a recommendation from the head of Sindh's police force.
It's seen as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all participants and to avoid any potential disturbances during the processions.
Under Section 144 (6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, this ban on pillion riding has been officially put into effect in designated zones and districts within Sindh.
However, there are exceptions to this restriction. The ban does not apply to women, children under 12 years old, senior citizens, journalists, law enforcement personnel, security officers in uniform, and employees providing essential services.
