Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar reached out on Monday to Principal of Aitchison College Michael Thomson urging him to reconsider his resignation and continue his tenure at the prestigious institution.
The renowned educational institution was thrown into turmoil earlier today as Principal Thomson tendered his resignation, citing "prejudiced actions by Governor House" and decrying what he termed as "unwarranted interference and brazen directives."
Although the resignation letter did not explicitly delineate the reasons behind the abrupt decision, media conjecture swiftly linked it to purported pressure exerted by political circles.
Reports suggested that Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman's controversial decision to waive tuition fees for the offspring of Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment, Ahad Cheema, may have been a catalyst for Thomson's resignation.
In a bid to salvage the situation, Federal Minister of Information, Ataullah Tarar, personally reached out to the embattled principal on behalf of the Federal Government.
Sources revealed that Minister Tarar engaged in discussions with Principal Thomson, imploring him to reconsider his resignation and explore avenues for an amicable resolution.
