In the U.S Human Rights Report 2022, India has been declared as a country of concern regarding religious freedom.
According to the report, since PM Modi came to power, Hindutva ideology has been promoted in India. As per report, the US Religious Freedom Commission sees India as a country of concern in terms of religious freedom.
Due to Modi's extremist policies, India can only be called a Hindu country instead of a secular country.
It should be noted that in the last 7 years, most Muslims and Christians have been subjected to atrocities in India, the American Commission has demanded that India be included in the list of countries of concern.
As per report, there were reports the government or its agents committed arbitrary or unlawful killings, including extrajudicial killings of suspected criminals and terrorists. There were reports that prisoners or detainees were killed or died in police and judicial custody. The 2021 Prison Statistics of India (PSI) report from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) documented 2,116 inmate deaths in judicial custody in 2021, which was an increase of 12 percent compared with 2020. The report attributed most prison deaths to natural causes and stated the highest number of custodial deaths occurred in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
