Erik ten Hag showered praise on the "remarkable" Alejandro Garnacho for his pivotal role in Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Everton on Saturday.
Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford capitalized on Garnacho's earned penalties, maintaining United's hopes for a coveted spot in the Champions League next season.
The win propelled Ten Hag's side within eight points of fourth-placed Aston Villa and just three points behind fifth-placed Tottenham.
Garnacho, who had previously showcased his brilliance with a goal of the season contender in November, once again proved to be the standout performer. His quick footwork drew two crucial spot-kicks, earning acclaim from Ten Hag.
"Garnacho is progressing remarkably well, and we're delighted with his contribution today. It was truly remarkable," acknowledged Ten Hag. "With this kind of attitude, he is poised to improve from game to game."
In a challenging second season for Ten Hag marked by back-to-back defeats against Fulham and Manchester City, Garnacho's standout performances have been a silver lining. Despite the setbacks, Ten Hag expressed confidence that United could still pursue a Champions League spot, especially with Villa and Tottenham set to face off on Sunday.
"We had one unfortunate result against Fulham this calendar year," added Ten Hag.
"We needed to correct that and maintain pressure on the teams above us. With numerous games still ahead, we're back in contention, and we'll keep the pressure on to see what unfolds."
On the flip side, Everton's defeat extended their winless streak in the Premier League to 11 games, leaving them teetering just five points above the relegation zone.
The Toffees struggled to convert chances, registering 23 shots on goal without finding the net.
Expressing frustration, Everton boss Sean Dyche emphasized the need for continuous improvement, stating, "I've never been in a situation, with all due respect to my previous squads, where we created so many opportunities and chances without converting."
Despite Garnacho's wastefulness with goal-scoring opportunities, United was saved by Everton's offensive struggles.
The Red Devils, known for conceding shots, went unpunished for the 16th time this season, securing the much-needed victory.
In stoppage time, Everton's hopes were dashed as an offside flag rescued them from conceding a potential third penalty when Jarrad Branthwaite fouled Marcus Rashford.
United, buoyed by Garnacho's impactful contributions, celebrated a crucial win on their journey towards Champions League qualification.
