The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was looking to approach former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson as the Pakistan men’s head coach.
Sources divulged on Wednesday that the PCB officials had expressed their willingness to appoint Watson as the head coach.
It will be up to PCB Chairman Mohsin Raza Naqvi to take the final decision in this regard.
According to sources, there is a possibility that Watson may take charge as the coach for the home series against New Zealand, slated to happen in April.
The post of head coach remained vacant following the end of former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez’s contract.
