Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) convened a crucial meeting of its core committee to address pressing concerns regarding the safety of its founding chairman, Imran Khan, and his wife, Bushra Bibi, among other issues.
In a recent core committee meeting, the party expressed “deep concern” over alleged threats to Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s safety during their potential imprisonment. They demanded the restoration of fundamental rights for incarcerated leaders and activists, ensuring legal and humane treatment according to Pakistani law.
The meeting focused specifically on former first lady’s situation, strongly condemning her detention in Bani Gala and reports of being served “substandard, deadly, and poisonous food.” PTI reiterated its request for her transfer to a regular jail facility.
Further escalating tensions, the party highlighted "a fresh series of forced disappearances" targeting its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats, including Brigadier (R) Aslam Ghuman and Ahmar Rashid Bhatti.
The PTI accused the authorities of attempting to pressure these individuals into leaving the party. They demanded the immediate removal of Chief Secretaries and IGs of Sindh, along with strict accountability for these alleged disappearances.
The committee also expressed strong support for the recent political alliance between PTI, Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen, and Sunni Ittehad Council. They pledged full backing to PTI Balochistan in all upcoming elections and demanded the immediate release of election results based on Form 45, a document crucial for verifying voting data.
Finally, the meeting called for a judicial inquiry led by the Judicial Commission to investigate the recent confession of the Commissioner Rawalpindi, where he leveled serious allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner and the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
