The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday forecast a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in the upper parts of the country this week, beginning November 4.
The weather system is likely to bring strong winds and a noticeable decline in temperatures.
The PMD stated that a new series of westerly winds will enter the upper reaches of Pakistan from Sunday night. The system is expected to cause widespread rainfall, gusty winds, and snowfall in various northern areas between November 4 and 5.
Rain and snow forecast for multiple areas
The Met Office said that rainfall is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, and Haripur during the two-day spell.
In addition, rain and snowfall are likely in Swabi, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat, Kashmir, and Muzaffarabad, as cold air masses strengthen across the region.
Cloudy weather is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Jhelum, and Sargodha, while thunderstorms are forecast in Khushab, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, and Lahore.
The PMD warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas could cause temporary disruption to daily activities.
The Meteorological Department added that a significant drop in temperature is likely during the rain spell. The wet conditions are also expected to bring temporary relief from smog and fog, particularly across Punjab and upper Sindh, where air quality has deteriorated in recent weeks.
