Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif constituted on Tuesday a special cabinet committee to investigate the flaws in the Faizabad sit-in (Dharna) Commission report, expressing dissatisfaction over the report's findings.
The decision was made during a federal cabinet meeting held in Islamabad, where the country's economic and security situation was reviewed. The meeting was briefed on progress in talks with the IMF delegation and Islamabad High Court cases.
The Attorney General and Law Minister presented the key points of the report, which was criticized by the cabinet for not adhering to its Terms of Reference (TORs).
PM Shehbaz stated that the report has "flaws" and does not meet the required standards.
The cabinet committee will review the report and present its recommendations to address the shortcomings. The committee's formation is seen as a move to ensure a more comprehensive investigation into the 2017 Faizabad sit-in.
In addition, the cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding with the UK government for the extradition of three Pakistani suspects.
