The Parveen Shakir Trust (PST) observed the 29th death anniversary of Pakistan’s iconic poet Parveen Shakir (died: Dec 26, 1994) on Tuesday (December 26).
Literary figures, the poet’s colleagues, friends, and the Members of the Trust gathered at H-8 graveyard at 11.30 am Tuesday to pay tribute to the indomitable spirit and literary contributions of one of Pakistan’s most celebrated poets.
Parveen Shakir was born on a rainy day in November 1952, in Karachi. She was the winner of the Pride of Performance, for her outstanding contributions to literature.
Her popular poetry work includes Sad-barg, Khud Kalami, and Inkar which were compiled in the book Mah-e-Tamam.
Parveen Shakir died in a road accident in Islamabad in 1994 at the age of forty-two.
Parveen Shakir books
Her first collection, Khushboo, was published in 1977. Her fourth and last book, Inkaar, was published in 1990. In between, Sadburg and Khudkalami appeared. Another collection, Kafe-Aina, was published posthumously in 1996.
